Dale Coyne Racing to Run No. 18 at Indianapolis 500 in Tribute to Kyle Busch
Dale Coyne Racing will field its No. 18 Honda in the 110th Indianapolis 500 bearing the livery used by Kyle Busch during his time at Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The tribute originated with Fox Sports commentator Townsend Bell and was coordinated with Joe Gibbs Racing after the team granted permission for the number design. Busch never competed in the IndyCar Series, yet he recorded multiple NASCAR victories at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Busch drove the No. 18 for fifteen seasons at Joe Gibbs Racing, including both of his Cup Series championship campaigns. His brother Kurt Busch attempted the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 doubleheader in 2014.
Romain Grosjean will start the race from 24th position for Dale Coyne Racing on Sunday.
